Welcome!
PHILIP DARK
Phil is a true Southerner educated at Louisburg College and UNC Chapel Hill (Economic History). His love of plants lead him to open Oakmont Landscaping (1984-1995) before establishing Oakmont Nursery in 1987.
He was recently recognized as Grower of the Year by the North Carolina Nursery and Landscape Association, reflecting his passion for growing and developing plants — in particular, gardenias. He holds two gardenia patents for ‘Crown Jewel’ (2009) and ‘Prince Charles’ (2018).
Phil enjoys a respected reputation among his colleagues, volunteering his time and expertise by serving on local and statewide agriculture advisory boards, including the Board of Advisors of the JC Raulston Arboretum at NC State University in Raleigh.
